The Spinovate Project is revolutionising the European cycling industry through data-driven design and sustainable manufacturing. Supported by the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT) Urban Mobility framework and working in partnership with See.Sense, this project addresses key challenges in e-bike compliance, sustainability, and innovation.
Focusing on the EU’s new battery regulations, Spinovate promotes eco-friendly practices and onshoring production. By reducing reliance on global supply chains, the project strengthens Europe’s economic and environmental resilience.
“This initiative reflects the fusion of innovation and sustainability,” as highlighted by the EIT Urban Mobility Call for Proposals.
Professor Ahmed-Kristensen’s expertise in data-driven design is instrumental in this initiative. Her research emphasizes the use of data as a catalyst for innovation and customization in product design. The project works closely with key stakeholders from local authorities and businesses in Dublin to understand the potential value and innovation arising from sensor data to inform decision-making in planning, scope 3 emissions.
See.Sense is the ideal industry partner for this project. They work with local authorities, fleet operators, and businesses across the globe to make micro-mobility safer and more accessible for all and collect Real-Time data from their cycling accessories. The project builds upon an existing partnership with See.Sense formed in the DIGITLab project.
