Roger Maull is Professor of Management Systems at the University of Exeter’s Business School and Academic Director of INDEX. He re-joined Exeter after 4 years at the University of Surrey where with Prof Alan Brown he set up the Centre for the Digital Economy (CODE).
Roger’s initial research interest focused on Operations Management, specifically in the services sector and he has continued to publish widely on that topic (see below for a list of publication).
Along with the managing editor Prof Steve Brown from 2010-2013 and Prof Andi Smart he helped edit the leading European journal in the field: the International Journal of Operations and Production Management (ABS 4). Roger’s focus was on services management. Since 2013 Roger has moved the focus of his research from a narrow concentration on Operations Management to a new phase: considering the implications of the Digital Revolution for businesses and society.
He has been an investigator on 18 RCUK projects with a total value over £14m. He has been a member of the EPSRC’s College of Peers for over 20 years and a regular panel member for EPSRC, ESRC and more recently RISCS (January 2018). He has also been a grant reviewer for Luxembourg, New Zealand, Switzerland and Canadian Research Councils.
