One of our DEAS researchers, Soheeb Khan, has been working with a number of companies developing serious games to help their staff and customers better understand how improvements could be made, and what could be the impact of innovative digital technologies on their business. He would like as many people as possible to play these games, to provide feedback, and also to complete a short survey afterwards to capture their thoughts and impressions.

Soheeb writes:

The aim of this research is to investigate if serious games could be used to convey, educate and/or simulate a servitization offer to its players. Two games were developed for different sectors:

  • Game 1: Uptime – Howden Machine Maintenance Game was developed for the Howden group (Manufacturing Sector)
  • Game 2: EHAB – Weather Risk Management Game was developed for EHAB group (Financial Sector).

This study is investigating the effectiveness of these game and by involving users in a Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) Study to gauge the acceptance of a new technology based on user’s feedback. This study will enable investigators to see the impact of the game and help others see the potential use of innovative technologies to communicate complex servitisation offers. For more information regarding the project please contact Dr Soheeb Khan (Soheeb.khan@gcu.ac.uk).
