Realising value from investments in ‘big data’ and analytics

Increasingly, organizations are relying on “big data” and data analytics to inform their decision-making processes and create all kinds of data-driven products and services. Managers seem convinced that investing in data and data-related technologies will allow their organizations to create both economic and social value. Yet, anecdotal evidence shows that realizing value from data is easier said than done. In order to understand how organizations can actually leverage data as strategic resources, Dr Wendy Günther is studying the role of data and how data in specific contexts influence strategic processes and outcomes.
